Making the Planet a better place
A problem that has been affecting the Coffee shop sector for many years is the disposal of our Takeaway cups. The plastic lining in them means they cannot be put into standard mixed recycling bins, having to be separately recycled at one of four facilities in the UK.
At Betty's Bites, we want to help address this challenge. Since opening in April 2020, we have put a recycling bin at the entrance/exit of our Cafe to ensure no cups are abandoned throughout the beautiful City of Edinburgh.
Not stopping there, we have partnered with the Community Resources Network Scotland who aim to educate the people of Scotland about recycling and waste minimisation through a range of education programmes. Through this scheme, we donate to CRNS for every tonne of cups they collect from us, helping to fund infrastructure and processes for cups to be recovered for recycling.
We have recycled over 5,000 cups since beginning the scheme and are working alongside Edinburgh City Council in providing more recycling cup facilities around the City.

If you frequently visit us, why not go a little bit farther! We are offering 25p off any drink in our Cafe if you drink a reusable cup rather than a disposable one, helping your save the planet and money at the same time!
How do you do you bit for the Planet? Let us know!
